Not having all the answers but spending an extensive amount of time obsessing over gear. I have being working on curating my perfect everyday carry by avoiding GAS and focusing on what really matters
I personally don’t like to carry a lot of equipment as I see it as a barrier to getting out but at the same time, I want to be well prepared. To achieve this I have my everyday carry then my ‘optional’ gear which is swapped in depending on the requirements for the day

Nikon z50 II
Before buying this camera I was working with the Nikon D7500. and I regret nothing from this upgrade. The spec improvements on the Z50 II over its predecessor, I think I timed this just right.
Inheriting a lot from the Nikon Z9 with the exceed X processor this camera has incredible autofocus, and can shoot unto 30 fps with pre capture. which is an incredible tool for shooting wildlife.

Nikon Z 180-600 F5.6-6.3

I was using the Nikon 200-500 f5.6 before I bought this lens, and despite the reviews suggesting the difference between these isn’t that significant, my experience has been completely different. It may be that my old sense was defective, however, the stabilization in this lens is on another level. and its ability to pull focus has seen a lot more keepers from my days out.
